Has anyone else tried out the Lapid dental clinics in the Philippines ? They used a Pax-I panoramic xray machine. The total cost was 1000 PHP (15GBP, 20USD) which is slightly higher than other clinics but the speed and overall service made it well worth the money. They gave me a print out on photo paper and then a CD which includes a full high resolution BMP of the panoramic X-Ray and software for processing and adjusting the image. The whole x-ray process only takes about 10 seconds. You're made to bite down on a piece of plastic and hold still while the machine rotates around your head. I went in with a referral slip from my dentist, filled out a short form and then went into the x-ray room. I was in and out within 25 minutes, with a print out and copy of the x-ray on CD. ![]() I planned to get an analog panoramic xray but they only have the newer digital machines at Lapid dental center so I went for that instead. My first time to experience a panoramic dental X-ray and it was amazingly quick and detailed. ![]() Watch the video below to see one patient describe how impressed he was with the technology used and the speed of the process when he got a dental x-ray: Your dentist may recommend you get new mouth x-rays taken every 6-24 months, depending on your oral health. The computerised x-ray is sent straight to the radiologist so they can immediately view it and carry out an assessment. It only takes about 10-20 seconds to capture the image. It can also accommodate wheelchair users. The procedure usually takes place while you are standing, but if you feel more comfortable sitting, the machine can be adjusted. It's important you remain completely still to get a clear image. The radiologist will position your head on a chin rest and there may be small supports at the front and sides of your head.
